Snake River Grill Tapas Specials

Once again, it’s about that mouthwatering time of year around Jackson Hole. Off Season. Never mind the Farmers Market, Harvest Fest or any Food and Wine Auction/event, off season is it’s own hedonistic culinary event combining good food and even better deals.

Certainly off season means a lot of things to different people in Jackson Hole. Some say it’s peaceful and pleasant with no crowds. Others claim, boring and cold and simply opt to evacuate for a stretch of time. But whether you’re a fan or not, everyone resident knows, it’s a good time of year to stock up on your restaurant dining with aggressive meal deals (two-for-ones/roll the dice) and fun nights out with the other folks who are sticking it out till the snow fully flies. And while it’s not full-throtle, rock bottom “off” yet this September 30th (and we will be sure to dedicate some future posts to what that entails), here’s a little ‘taste’ of what’s to come as far as the food and dining part of October November and part of December is concerned.

Feast your eyes on the Tapas platter of offerings Snake River Grill has cooked up for October.

Jackson Hole Announces #1 Ski Free Day

rezora_send2.indd

Ok, you heard the news: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is touted as Ski Magazine’s #1 Resort in North America. That’s top-notch news for any number of reasons we will get into a couple of paragraphs deeper but here’s a little added cherry on top of the already too-good-to-be-true newfound title.

Yesterday, Jackson Hole announced in another exciting news release (as if last week’s shout out wasn’t enough), “The Party’s Not Over.” To celebrate their newfound status as the #1 Ski Resort in North America- a first-time accolade for the iconic resort, Jackson Hole is offering a Free Ski Day the day after the resort officially opens for the season-Thursday, November 28th THANKSGIVING- on Friday, November 29, 2013. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort President Jerry Blann explains, “We wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this #1 ranking, and free skiing seemed the perfect gift. In the spirit of giving back to our amazing community, a suggested donation of $1 will be matched by JHMR.” And they say $1 can’t buy anything these days…

To wet your $1 whistle a little more, here’s a goosebump delivering brand new (added yesterday) brand video from Jackson Hole. They have it right, living here certainly makes you feel alive.

WAIT – The Party is Not Over
JHMR Announces #1 Free Ski Day
(September 23, 2013), Teton Village, WY – On the heels of #1 Resort Award by SKI Magazine readers, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR)  announced a free ski day on Friday, November 29th, 2013.  “We wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this #1 ranking, and free skiing seemed the perfect gift,” stated JHMR President Jerry Blann. “In the spirit of giving back to our amazing community, a suggested donation of $1 will be matched by JHMR,” Blann added.
SKI Magazine’s survey, now in its 26th year, provides an annual snapshot of the Top 50 resorts in North America. Readers rank resorts in 20 different categories from snow and lifts, to dining and service. Jackson Hole earned the top spot this year, as well as Top 10 rankings in a wide range of areas, from Challenge and Character (both # 1’s) to Lodging (# 3) and Service (# 7).  For a mountain never known for extensive grooming until the recent “All New All Blue” initiatives, Jackson Hole ranked #19 in grooming this year. “Jackson Hole has done as good of a job as any resort in recent memory of expanding its appeal to a wider audience, now offering a remarkable experience to skiers of all talents and tastes,” Greg Ditrinco, Editor of SKI Magazine says.

Jackson Hole opens for the winter 2013.14 season on November 28th, and continues to famously deliver epic powder snow, 4,139 continuous vertical feet, 2500 acres of the best beginner, intermediate and expert skiing and snowboarding in North America and a genuine “Last of the Old West” atmosphere. Neighboring the legacy National Parks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton and operating in Bridger Teton National Forest, there is no more spectacular setting for a destination resort in the world. And now Jackson Hole is one of the most easily accessed destination resorts in the West with direct flights from twelve major cities, including new non-stop flights from JFK, Houston* and Seattle in addition to San Francisco, Minneapolis and Newark last winter. Jane Goodall Visits Jackson Hole

From the Ground to the Cloud: Transforming Chimpanzee Conservation with Hi-Tech Tools

Jane Goodall visits Jackson Hole in an incredible event at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts.

Livestream courtesy of the Jane Goodall Institute

Only in Jackson Hole: “Can’t Make It To See Jane On Tour? Now You Can! On Sunday, September 22, 2013, you can watch a livestream of Jane’s conversation with her friend and colleague Harvard University Professor Richard Wrangham at the Great Apes Summit in Jackson Hole, Wyo.  And if you log on, you’ll also be able to see the world premiere of a new film the Jane Goodall Institute created with Google Earth Outreach that shows how the Institute’s use of high-tech tools is transforming chimpanzee conservation! ”

Just another spectacular example of the caliber of people attracted to interact with the Jackson Hole audience. What could be more special than marching through the streets of downtown Jackson with children a flock of peace doves and then watching one of the most progressive conservationists of her time – Jane Goodall- who even at the age of 80 continues to cultivate her efforts to draw attention to the triumph and the plight of Chimpanzees. The community both local and global at large are grateful for Jane Goodall’s unrivaled vision and dedication to drawing awareness to the wonders of the natural world. Something we are surrounded by here and celebrate in Wyoming and the Teton Range.

TGR’s Way of Life in Premiers in Teton Village Tomorrow

Some say it’s a beautiful life. Or- as the Italians offer- a sweet one. This year, the bros at Jackson Hole-based Teton Gravity Research announce it’s a ‘Way of Life’ with regards to their annual homage to celebrating la vie de ski. Teton Gravity Research’s Premier and party, usually held a couple weeks into the month of September in Teton Village, is marked with a crisp fall-infused anticipation but actually almost officially ushers in winter in the eyes, hearts and excitable bones of the ski bums.  They flock to the site of the Grand Teton Music Festival’s Walk Festival Hall and take their seats for a powder ride offered by the directors, producers and premier athletes skiing the most impressive and fluffy stuff on earth. While the Pros at TGR travel the globe dropping cliffs and couliors from Chamonix to the Chugach, they remain true to their roots and always give props to their home base here in Jackson Hole. The marriage of this production house and the place inspires a chicken-egg conversation (if you wanna go really deep here).

Teton Gravity is undeniably a pioneer of the ever-growing offering of adreneline-infused winter -focused production companies. Most of these relative newcomers are really good. Most have only-the-best athletes. All offer up the fun we crave on snow and deliver it in HD. But a rare few can claim this place- Jackson Hole– as their perpetual muse. Teton Gravity has certainly helped put Jackson Hole on the map, but with the off-the-charts terrain, bitter cold, bluebird powder days and namesake mountain range at it’s backdrop to stir and sooth  the soul…alas the ultimate answer to the aforementioned quandary.

Jackson Hole Named #1 by SKI Magazine

SKI Magazine Makes the Call: Jackson Hole is #1

SKI Magazine Makes the Call: Jackson Hole is #1

Enough said.

Jackson Hole has long enjoyed it’s time in the sun and snow as a top destination for serious skiers.  A coveted cover shot and #1 designated honor coming from the authorities at Ski Magazine assures the outdoor community that Jackson is making an impact on an increasingly broader community of consumers. This is good news for locals and anyone interested in the lifestyle approach and economics of Jackson Hole. If you love it here, you already know why or if your interest is perhaps peaked by this accolade and you’re thinking of checking it out for the fist time, this huge kudo means there’s no time like the present to make that ‘bucket list’ ski trip a reality.

Rob DesLauriers, owner and developer of slopeside luxury hotels Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa and Hotel Terra Jackson Hole and Realty Group of Jackson Hole member, reports that Hotel Terra’s winter booking pace is already up an unprecedented 115 % over this time last year. That’s a strong indication that consumer confidence is returning and becoming increasingly robust. Compounded by this news of Jackson scoring the outstanding #1 vote, means this winter promises a new record over last years’ pickup. So, time to plan that trip- Jackson Hole is hot and it’s about to get really cold around here!

Business Week touts trends in skiing and picks up on the increasing interest in Jackson Hole with this great article “Once Extreme, Now Mainstream: Jackson Hole is Named North America’s Number 1 Ski Resort.”

Here’s the Press Release from Jackson Hole Mountain Rresort’s Anna Cole:

SKI Magazine Readers Vote Jackson Hole
North America’s Overall #1 Resort for 2014

(September 18, 2013), Teton Village, WY – The votes are in, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is ranked #1 Overall Resort in North America by the annual SKI Magazine Reader’s Poll.  SKI Magazine’ssurvey, now in its 26th year, provides an annual snapshot of the Top 50 resorts in North America. Readers rank resorts in 20 different categories that include anything from snow and lifts, to dining and service.  TheSKI survey is the longest-running annual resort survey in the winter sports industry and since 2005, the #1 award has been dominated by Deer Valley, Vail Mountain and mostly recently Whistler in 2013.  Last winter JHMR was #6 overall and before that, had not been ranked inside the top ten. “This award truly reflects the combined efforts of our ownership, the dedicated JHMR staff, and the Jackson Hole community,” stated JHMR President, Jerry Blann.

These results affirm the community’s goal to continually improve the guest experience year over year.  “The Kemmerer Family and JHMR’s Board of Directors have been dedicated to improving the infrastructure of the resort and with their focused leadership; over $135 Million in on-mountain improvements have been invested. That, combined with the hard work of JH AIR, the JH Travel & Tourism Board, Wyoming Tourism and the passionate local community, has transformed Jackson Hole into a premier winter destination,” Blann commented, and added, “This is an exciting time for JHMR and all of Jackson Hole.  Our plan is to continue on the path that has led to this #1 award – staying true to our independent spirit, our western hospitality and a truly authentic offering in the ski industry.”

“This positions Jackson Hole on a strong footing heading into this season.  Additionally, we are in good company with the Mountain Collective partnership, five of our Mountain Collective Resort partners are in the SKI Top 15, with Whistler (#6), Snowmass (#9), Aspen Mountain (#13) and Mammoth (#14).  It validates that SKI readers believe in the unique and high caliber resort experiences these mountains offer,” stated JHMR Chief Marketing Officer, Adam Sutner.
